We're seeking an experienced Surgical Technologist to join the Operating Room team at Suburban Hospital, part of the Johns Hopkins Health System. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a high-acuity surgical environment supporting a wide range of specialty procedures while collaborating with some of the region's leading surgical professionals.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and maintain sterile fields for surgical procedures
  • Organize surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to cases
  • Assist surgeons by passing instruments and anticipating procedural needs
  • Support surgical teams during orthopedic, neuro, ENT, ophthalmology, robotics, and spine procedures
  • Perform accurate sponge, needle, and instrument counts
  • Ensure surgical instruments are functioning properly and ready for use
  • Adhere to infection prevention, sterilization, and patient safety standards
  • Maintain accurate documentation within EPIC
  • Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and anesthesia teams to support optimal patient outcomes

What We're Looking For

 

✅ Current Operating Room experience

✅ Experience scrubbing complex surgical cases

✅ Strong knowledge of sterile technique and surgical instrumentation

✅ Experience working in fast-paced OR environments

✅ Familiarity with EPIC preferred

✅ Excellent communication and teamwork skills

✅ Ability to take call and support surgical services as needed

Requirements

 

✅ Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology Program

Current CPR/BLS Certification

✅ Experience with:

  • Total Joints
  • Orthopedic Spine
  • Neurosurgery
  • ENT
  • Ophthalmology (Vitrectomy)
  • Robotics

✅ Recent Operating Room experience required

✅ Ability to work 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM day shifts

✅ Ability to participate in call rotation:

  • 3 to 4 call shifts every 8 weeks
  • Nights, weekends, and holidays included

✅ Must meet all facility onboarding and credentialing requirements

✅ EPIC experience must be disclosed upon submission
