Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and perform unit support activities within the operating room suite
- Anticipate surgeon and team needs before and during each case, including assistance with dressings and cast application at case conclusion
- Pick cases according to physician preference cards and update preference cards per established processes
- Perform and document accurate surgical counts, including instruments, towel clips, and related items, ensuring accountability before patient leaves the room
- Identify and report exceptions or issues promptly, taking appropriate action to support department objectives and quality of care
- Participate in teaching and contribute to at least one department task beyond routine responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of experience as a scrub person in a hospital setting
- BLS for Healthcare Providers required
- Strong OB/GYN procedure experience required
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Ability to comply with all regulatory requirements including mandatory training, TB testing, HIPAA, and compliance standards
Preferred Experience / Skills
- Completion of an approved Operating Room Technician program or demonstrated technical skills through on-the-job training
- Scrub Technician certification (CST or equivalent)
