Key Responsibilities

• Maintain sterile conditions and anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout operative procedures
• Function in a primary scrub position, providing direct patient care during assigned operative procedures
• Assure appropriate instruments and supplies are present, in proper working condition, and correctly labeled with medications and doses on the sterile field
• Support the operative team by following patient care hand-off protocols
• Actively participate in quality improvement processes and ongoing self-development
• Comply with all policies, standards, and requirements related to the safe and secure handling of Protected Health Information (PHI)

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, or completion of a military Surgical Technologist training program
• Thorough knowledge of asepsis, instrumentation, suture, and surgical procedures
• Ability to use a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient care needs and prescribed medical therapies
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire
• Good communication skills with the ability to take direction and work effectively in a team environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a scrub role across a variety of surgical specialties
• Familiarity with surgical quality improvement processes and initiatives
