Key Responsibilities

• Function in the role of scrub person, working under the supervision of the surgeon and RN to ensure a safe OR environment and proper equipment function throughout operative procedures
• Assure completion of case carts according to preference cards; recognize and interpret preference cards for the procurement of instruments and supplies
• Communicate with operating room staff and sterile processing staff to coordinate instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled cases throughout the day
• Review the daily schedule with the charge nurse and sterile processing day coordinator to identify potential turnover delays and scheduling issues
• Serve as a resource for SPD and Surgical Services for the procurement of supplies and instrumentation for scheduled and non-scheduled surgical procedures
• Float to Labor & Delivery as needed

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technologist program, or equivalent military surgical technologist program
• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required
• American Heart Association BLS certification required

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience coordinating with materials management regarding supply utilization and deployment
• Familiarity with sterile processing workflows and instrumentation coordination across multiple surgical specialties
