Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years as a Surgical Technician
- At least 1 year of travel/temp experience
- Required experience in ortho, neuro/ortho spine, general/robotics, urology/gyn, and vascular
License:
- Passage of National Surgical Technician Certification Exam is preferred
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association is required
Must-Have:
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technician School or an accredited school of Licensed Practical Nursing
- For Licensed Practical Nursing graduates, one year of surgical technician/scrubbing experience is required, two years preferred
Description:
A Surgical Technician provides surgical support under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse or Clinical Supervisor.
This role requires providing the surgeon with instrumentation needs.
The Surgical Technician acts as a liaison between the physician, patient, and family.
He or she collaborates with other healthcare team members.
The role includes assisting in the orientation process of new personnel and is responsible for call coverage.
Attendance at team meetings and assisting with general surgery as needed is expected.
Participation in interdisciplinary or departmental committees may be required.
The Surgical Technician must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for all general procedures, considering chronological age, developmental age, and psycho-social maturity.
Completion of Net Learning modules within one week of confirmation is a requirement.
