Key Responsibilities
Assist the surgical team in preparing and executing surgical procedures within the operating room
Create and maintain a sterile field; pass instruments, supplies, and medications to surgeons during cases
Assemble and review appropriate supplies and equipment prior to operative procedures
Complete instrument, sponge, needle, and blade counts with the Registered Nurse (RN) according to established standards
Label solutions and maintain a neat, orderly sterile field with careful attention to aseptic technique
Transport patients, perform clerical duties, and clean equipment and facilities as needed
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED required
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required
Minimum of 3-5 years of recent acute operating room experience
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification preferred but strongly valued
Demonstrated competency in ortho trauma, joint, neuro spine, da Vinci Xi, advanced laparoscopic, and bariatric surgeries
Preferred Experience / Skills
Associate's degree or technical degree in a related field
Prior scrub technician experience in a high-acuity or specialty surgical environment
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
Familiarity with performance standards of care and unit-based data collection
