Job Title: Surgical Technician-NCA Profession: Tech Specialty: Surgical Duration: 8 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM Experience: Minimum 2 years of Surgical Tech experience License: BLS, CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) Certifications: Required Must-Have: - Surgical Technology - Surgical Instrumentation Handling - Aseptic Technique - Medical Terminology - Metric System Knowledge - Patient Care During Intra-Operative Period - Problem Solving - Planning - Emergency Response Description: The Surgical Technician-NCA assists other members of the health care team in the delivery of patient care during the intra-operative period. The major focus for this position is on preparation and handling of instrumentation and surgical equipment and assisting the surgeon during the surgical procedure. This individual administers care and use of equipment applications based on the age and needs of the patient population served, from neonate through geriatric. The Surgical Technician must be knowledgeable of specific procedures or specialties, effectively prioritize, and effectively plan and problem solve due to the changing nature of the work situation during surgical procedures. This individual must have the ability to recognize the need for immediate response during urgent or emergency situations. The Surgical Technician must also have basic knowledge of medical terminology, the metric system, and aseptic technique, and apply this knowledge in all patient and family interactions. Responsibilities: Displays aseptic technique in performance of surgical duties to ensure positive patient outcomes. Demonstrates responsibility for the care, preparation, handling, and maintenance of surgical instrumentation. Consistently performs sponge, sharps, and instrument counts according to policy and procedure. Demonstrates knowledge and adherence to professional standards of practice.
