Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical/Transplant unit requiring acute care surgical floor experience and an active OK or compact RN license.

Details

  • Work on a Surgical/Transplant unit that is a mix of Stepdown (SD) and Medical/Surgical (MS) acute care
  • Care for post-surgical kidney, liver, and pancreas transplant patients as well as pre-transplant patients undergoing inpatient evaluation
  • Patients require close monitoring for infection, rejection, and timely medication administration
  • Assignment based on patient acuity and nurse availability, working either MS or SD as needed
  • ICU nurses floated to the unit during short-staffing will be assigned SD patients based on acuity and skill set
  • This is not a PACU or OR position
  • Night shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, 4 days per week (48 hours weekly)

Requirements

  • Active RN license issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a current multistate compact RN license (eNLC)
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Minimum of 1 year of acute care surgical floor experience required
  • Stepdown/PCU experience required
  • ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
  • Preceptor and charge nurse experience preferred
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing from an accredited program required; BSN preferred
  • OR candidates will not be considered for this position

Additional Information

  • Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of surgical and transplant patients
  • Document patient responses to interventions and treatments, noting all changes in physician orders
  • Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
  • Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
  • Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
  • Delegate tasks to support staff as appropriate
  • Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Returning workers may extend a contract one time for a total of 26 weeks, after which a 6-month separation is required before reapplying
  • Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates will not be pushed once booked
