Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit night shift position requiring at least three years of relevant nursing experience and an active Illinois RN license.

Details

• Work in the Surgical unit of a hospital setting
• 13-week contract assignment
• Night shift schedule, 7:30pm-7:00am
• 36 hours per week, 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week
• Rotating weekend and holiday shifts required
• May float to other Carle Health facilities including Methodist Hospital, Young Minds, Pekin Hospital, and Proctor Hospital
• Uses Epic charting system
• Performs bedside lab testing and specimen collection as part of patient care

Requirements

• Active Illinois RN license in good standing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• Minimum of three years of relevant nursing experience
• ASN required, BSN preferred
• Level 1 Trauma experience required
• Epic charting experience required
• Fluent in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English
• Basic computer proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, email, and web browser applications
• Strong critical thinking and independent judgment skills
• Multicultural sensitivity required

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care through the nursing process, including assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate patient care from admission to discharge
• Document patient progress and maintain accurate patient charts and event reports
• Utilize technical knowledge of equipment and troubleshoot issues as they arise
• Advocate for patients and communicate effectively with physicians and care team members
• Adapt patient and family education strategies based on individual learning needs
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be considered for this position
• RTO limited to no more than 7 total days per 13-week contract
• Workers may not remain on continuous assignment at this health system for more than 1 year without a 6-month break in service
