Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a Surgical unit night shift position requiring at least one year of relevant nursing experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

  • Work in the Surgical unit of a hospital environment
  • Provides post-operative care for complex surgical patients
  • Cares for newly placed tracheostomies and manages complex wounds including wound vac therapy
  • Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies
  • Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services
  • Night shift schedule: 7:00p-7:30a (three 12-hour shifts)
  • 36 hours per week, 3 days per week
  • Required to work 6 weekend shifts within a 6-week period
  • Holiday shift coverage on a rotating basis
  • Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

  • Active IL RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)
  • Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)
  • Minimum of one year of relevant nursing experience required
  • ASN required, BSN preferred
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Level 1 Trauma experience required
  • Skilled in tracheostomy care, wound management, wound vac management, and ostomy care
  • Experience with patient and family education and documentation of nursing care

Additional Information

  • Serves as a professional caregiver responsible for a designated group of patients, utilizing the nursing process and clinical technology to deliver individualized care
  • Completes initial patient assessments and develops care plans based on patient and family needs
  • Implements and modifies plans of care based on continuous evaluation of patient status
  • Reports and corrects safety hazards to ensure patient and employee safety
  • Collaborates with peers and interdisciplinary teams to support professional development and positive patient outcomes
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
  • RTO not to exceed 7 total days per 13-week contract
  • Candidates who have worked continuously with this health system for more than 1 year must complete a 6-month break in service before returning to any facility within the system
