Description:
This position is for a First Assist CST/ORT in the Labor and Delivery department.
The unit features 16 LDR beds, 3 OR rooms, 3 triage areas, and 3 recovery rooms.
The staff consists of 70 members, including nurses and surgical technicians.
Day shift includes 1 charge nurse, 12 RNs, and 2-3 surgical techs.
Night shift includes 1 charge nurse, 6-7 RNs, and 1 surgical tech.
Patient ratios follow established guidelines and may vary from 1:1 to 3:1 based on acuity.
Common equipment used includes Novii monitors and iMobile systems.
Typical procedures performed include labor, delivery, recovery, and triage.
The team provides antepartum care and assists in surgical procedures such as C-sections.
Responsibilities include newborn care and breastfeeding assistance.
The unit prioritizes cultural diversity and collaboration among staff.
Dress code includes navy blue scrubs and closed-toe shoes, with tattoos and piercings covered.
The unit operates with 24/7 coverage including hospitalists and midwives, as well as anesthesia and neonatologists.
