Required Certifications include BLS and graduation from any accredited surgical technologist program with certification.
Common cases include general surgery, orthopedic/sports medicine, plastics and cosmetics, podiatry, cataracts/eye procedures, and OB/GYN/women's health (non-cancer related).
The role requires comfort transitioning between scrubbing and assisting.
Shifts and scheduling consist of 5 eight-hour shifts per week, running from 0645 to 1515. Late stay and on-call rotations may apply.
Travelers are asked to be flexible and assist in filling gaps in scheduling.
Weeknight call requirements include being on-call, typically 1 to 2 times per week, for approximately 15.5 hours.
Weekend call requirements involve being on-call 1 to 2 times per month, with 24-hour call shifts from Saturday 0645 to Sunday 0645.
Holiday call requirements may involve a rotation that includes the day before and the day of the holiday, as well as the day after.
The response time for call is 30 minutes.
Floating may be required into the OR scrub role, post-anesthesia care unit, and sterile processing for assisting as needed.
Scrub color and dress code will be provided by the facility and must not be worn outside.
New employees should arrive presentable to the facility.
Unit-department specific orientation will consist of 1 to 2 shifts and call shifts with a preceptor.
