• Unit Type: Telemetry
• Number of Beds: 30
• Ratios: 1:4-5
• EMR: Cerner
• Scrub Color: Navy

Shift Details

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts in a 4-week period
• Holidays: Scheduled based on unit coverage

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years required
• Required Certifications:
  • BLS (AHA)
  • ACLS
• Experience with Level 1 Trauma is mandatory
• Must successfully pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance

Unit Notes

• Includes large numbers of transplant and Whipple procedures
• Common patient diagnoses: post-operative transplants, spine surgery, orthopedic joints, and trauma
• Floating required to Med/Surg/Telemetry units as needed
• Orientation includes 2 shifts specific to the unit

Skills Assessment

All RNs will be required to complete a SIMs Lab for:

• Foley catheter insertion
• Central line dressing changes

Note: Those who are not competent in maintaining a sterile field may not be a suitable fit. Educational components will also cover lifts, restraints, and wound care practices.

Additional Notes

• Natural hair color is required; facial piercings are not permitted
• Men must be clean-shaven for fit testing
• Pass/fail exam will occur on the first day of orientation
