Key Responsibilities

• Provide routine and complex nursing care utilizing the nursing process — assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation — for assigned patients in the Operating Room/Surgery setting
• Administer medications and treatments per appropriate protocol; monitor for side effects and effectiveness
• Address psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with scope of practice
• Document patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided accurately and in a timely manner
• Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers; identify issues and available resources
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate to other care providers as needed to manage clinical situations; charge duties may be required as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in the state of employment or a valid compact license
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Ability to fulfill weekend call commitment of 1–2 24-hour call shifts per weekend
• Ability to fulfill on-call commitment of 1–2 call nights per week
• Willingness to float to main and other departments as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Minimum 1 year of experience in Operating Room or surgical nursing specialty
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
