Job Responsibilities
Reprocess and sterilize surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols.
Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instruments.
Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly processed and ready for patient use.
Follow infection prevention, sterile processing, and quality assurance standards.
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage before sterilization.
Assemble instrument trays and surgical sets accurately according to established procedures.
Operate sterilization and related sterile processing equipment safely and appropriately.
Maintain accurate documentation and records for instrument processing and sterilization cycles.
Follow manufacturer instructions for use (IFU) and facility policies throughout the reprocessing process.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe sterile processing environment.
Communicate effectively with operating room staff regarding instrument availability and processing needs.
Prioritize urgent and emergency instrument requests as needed.
Perform other sterile processing duties as assigned.
