Support the needs of patients and clinical customers while coordinating activities across all shifts. Direct the team to meet patient and customer requirements, needs, and changing expectations. Ensure a high level of patient and customer focus is maintained. Maintain and ensure the optimal availability of instrumentation, equipment, and supplies. Track and report departmental performance regarding availability of resources. Act as the first point of contact for customer issues, process problems, and routine problem-solving. Communicate problems and corrective actions to the Supervisor or Manager as needed. Serve as a safety champion for the team by understanding risk areas and emergency response procedures. Monitor team performance expectations and report on performance metrics. Make recommendations for performance improvement. Coach individual employees to improve performance and develop the team. Identify skill or performance deficiencies and recommend required training or disciplinary actions. Support process improvements to ensure fiscal responsibility and optimize resource use. Conduct staff meetings and shift communication huddles to provide daily objectives and guidance. Communicate all issues that may impact resource availability or patient care to the departmental supervisor. Assist in interviewing potential employees and provide input into performance reviews. Coordinate training for new hires and ensure staff completion of re-certifications and in-services. Understand and utilize primary information technology systems in the section. Work on the floor to assist the team in completing daily tasks. Fill in for sick, vacation, and holiday time as needed. Perform other duties as required or assigned.
