Familiarity with electronic instrument tracking systems is preferred. Experience in Level 1 Trauma required. Description: The Sterile Processing Supervisor provides operational and technical leadership for the Sterile Processing Department. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and compliant reprocessing of surgical instruments and medical devices. The supervisor directly supervises Lead Technicians, Sterile Processing Technicians I, II, III, and Non-Certified Technicians. Responsibilities include daily workflow coordination, staff competency, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and customer service to the perioperative area. Daily assignments of staff will be based on workload, case volume, and departmental priorities. The supervisor coordinates daily SPD operations to meet surgical and procedural case demands. Monitoring of tray turnaround times, instrument availability, and case cart readiness is essential. The supervisor will troubleshoot equipment, instrument, and workflow issues in real time. Ensuring proper segregation of clean and dirty workflows and adherence to infection prevention practices is critical. Compliance with industry guidelines and regulatory standards will be maintained. The supervisor will audit tray assembly accuracy, count sheets, peel packs, and labeling requirements. Service concerns will be addressed, and service recovery will be implemented when needed. Participation in interdisciplinary meetings related to instrumentation, workflow, and quality initiatives is expected. The supervisor will monitor adherence to infection control, safety, and universal precautions across the department. Instrument trays and equipment will be prepared for sterilization processes, including the decontamination and sterilization of instruments, medical supplies, and equipment. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are required. Individuals must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Basic computer proficiency for documentation and recordkeeping is necessary. Experience as a preceptor or trainer is preferred. Knowledge of sterilization principles, microbiology, and infection prevention practices is required. Knowledge of instrument names, functions, and specialty sets is a plus.
