Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN with SC or compact license and 2 years of med surg experience for a 22-bed adult MS Oncology unit requiring frequent floating between units.

Details

  • Work on a 22-bed adult MedSurg Oncology unit (5T)
  • Primary role is MedSurg with frequent floating to Stepdown/PCU and MS/Tele units
  • Stepdown ratios of 1:4-5 and MedSurg ratios of 1:5-6
  • Day shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
  • Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the hospital based on clinical experience and unit needs
  • Uses Meditech EMR

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
  • Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating responsibilities
  • IV start skills required
  • Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Prior charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Care for adult MedSurg Oncology patients with frequent cross-training to Stepdown and Telemetry units
  • Must be comfortable with high float frequency between MedSurg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
  • Expected to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facility will not accept candidates with license or background issues
  • Previous travelers must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure to be eligible for return
  • Minimal RTO accepted; any time off requests must be approved prior to assignment start
