Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift stepdown unit requiring 2+ years of experience and telemetry strip-reading skills.

Details

• Acute care Level 1 trauma hospital setting on a 7 West Stepdown/MedSurg unit with 32 total beds (12 Stepdown, 20 floor)
• Patient ratios are 1:3 in Stepdown and 1:4-6 on the floor unit
• Typical MedSurg patient population including chest pain, COPD, AMS, pneumonia, UTI, abdominal pain, overflow cases, and hospice transitions
• Telemetry monitoring in use; RNs must be able to read strips in conjunction with continuous monitor techs
• Stepdown nurses manage titratable drips; floor nurses manage PCAs, heparin, and similar infusions
• Uses EPIC EMR
• Night shift schedule (7p-7:30a) on a rotating pattern of Friday/Saturday/Sunday or Saturday/Sunday/Monday, including a holiday
• Requires working 2 weekends per schedule and holiday coverage per the permanent staff schedule
• Can be floated to any floor or stepdown unit
• Unit is staffed with a dedicated charge nurse and house supervisor support

Requirements

• Active WV or Compact RN license required
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Level 1 trauma center experience
• Acute care experience in a stepdown or Med/Surg setting

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to a Med/Surg and Stepdown population, including drip titration and telemetry monitoring
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to qualify for travel status
• Candidates previously employed at this facility or other WVU Medicine locations must have taken a 2-year break before reapplying
• Travelers cannot work within the WVU system for longer than a cumulative year without taking a 2-year break
• Royal blue scrub color required per dress code
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 required, with medical or religious exemption forms available upon request
