Registered Nurse - MedSurg Stepdown Unit

Schedule

This position requires working 12-hour weekend nights, specifically Friday through Sunday, from 7 PM to 7:30 AM.

Job Description

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses for our MedSurg Stepdown Unit. The unit specializes in post-surgical thoracic and medicine patients, caring for individuals who require advanced monitoring and titration of medications. The RNs will be expected to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage a variety of drips according to physician orders.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care to stepdown patients, monitoring vital signs and assessing patient conditions.
• Titrate medications, including Cardizem, Amiodarone, Dopamine, Nitro, Esmolol, Heparin, and Lasix, based on established parameters.
• Document patient data, including EKG rhythms, and collaborate with healthcare providers for comprehensive patient care.
• Participate in unit orientation and maintain compliance with unit protocols and procedures.
• Assist in training and mentorship of CNAs and new nursing staff when needed.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Current RN license in the state of practice.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• Strong MedSurg Stepdown experience is essential, including critical thinking skills and the ability to prioritize patient care.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring and EKG interpretation is required.
