Join a leading acute-care hospital as a Step Down Registered Nurse in St. Louis, MO, specializing in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Step Down. This contract position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment while providing critical care to patients in need.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide nursing care to patients in the Step Down Unit with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4.
• Administer medications and treatments as per physician orders.
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, including titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, and management of trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Document patient care using EPIC charting system.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Step Down or Progressive Care Unit.
• Current ACLS, BCLS, and NIH certifications required.
• Must have been at the bedside within the last 6 months.
• Ability to float to lower acuity floors as needed.
• No on-call requirements.
• Weekend requirement: 2 shifts every other weekend (Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday for night shifts).
• Pending licenses accepted; local candidates not accepted (75 miles radius rule).
