Description

American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Med Surg/Stepdown position requiring 2 years of med surg experience and comfort with frequent floating between units.

Details

  • 22-bed adult MS Oncology unit that frequently floats to Stepdown and MS/Tele units
  • Stepdown ratios of 1:4-5 and Med Surg ratios of 1:5-6
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
  • Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the hospital, including to PCU-type units
  • Uses Meditech EMR
  • Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white required

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • BLS certification required (ACLS and NIHSS preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years of med surg experience required
  • Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating expectations
  • IV start skills required
  • Meditech charting experience preferred but not required
  • Travel experience preferred but not required
  • Community hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care across Med Surg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units as needed
  • Must be comfortable floating frequently between units with varying acuity levels
  • Floating follows facility policy and includes appropriate orientation to new units
  • Expect to work some holidays and weekends in rotation with staff
  • Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to qualify for travel rate
  • Candidates with license or background check issues will not be accepted
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Former employees must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at departure
  • Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of the assignment
