Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, prior travel experience, and an active SC or Compact RN license.
Details
- Stepdown unit in a hospital setting with 12 staffed beds
- Patient ratio of 1:4
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
- Every other weekend required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating within scope required, consistent with staff nurse expectations; travelers float first
- Charting via Epic (preferred experience)
Requirements
- Active SC RN license or Compact RN license required; candidates with a pending SC license may be considered but must be fully licensed before starting
- Current AHA certifications required: ACLS and BLS
- NIHSS certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
- Required skills include IV therapy, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, blood product administration, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and non-invasive airway management
- SSN and Driver's License required for consideration
- 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration
Additional Information
- Candidates must reside more than 60 miles from the facility; locals are not accepted
- Previous permanent or PRN staff of the MUSC system must have been separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to work as a traveler
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront; RTO requests submitted after the offer process will not be accepted
- Pre-start orientation modules are required and completed before the assignment begins (approximately 4 hours)
- Holiday rotation required
- Scrub color: Royal blue
- Free parking available on-site
- Travelers should be aware that during hurricane season (June–November, peak months August–September), all employees and contractors may be assigned to emergency response teams
