Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Stepdown/PCU position requiring a SC or compact license and prior travel nursing experience.

Details

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU)/Stepdown setting of a hospital
• Cares for stepdown-level patients including cardiac, neuro, respiratory, and post-surgical populations
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7p-7a
• Holiday rotation required
• Weekend requirement of every other weekend
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floating required within scope to sister units/facilities, same as staff expectations, with agency staff floating first
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active SC RN license or compact license required in hand prior to start
• Minimum 2 years of recent PCU/Stepdown nursing experience required
• Current certifications: BLS and ACLS (AHA only); NIHSS preferred
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred
• Experience with IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Cardiac monitoring and dysrhythmia management skills required
• Valid driver's license and SSN required for consideration

Additional Information

• Provide direct patient care to stepdown-level patients requiring close monitoring and specialized interventions
• Skills in neuro, respiratory, cardiovascular, and renal patient care are highly valued
• Facility may call off up to one shift per two weeks
• Royal blue scrubs required
• Free parking provided
• During hurricane season (June through November), staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Candidates must reside outside a 60-mile radius to be considered, as local candidates are not accepted
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least one year before returning as a traveler
• All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted at time of application for consideration
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
