Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Step Down Units in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing care to adult and geriatric patients with various diagnoses, including cardiac, nephrology, stroke, and diabetes. The role requires critical thinking and effective communication to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS certifications; 2 years of clinical experience; Nebraska state RN license required.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with adult and geriatric patient populations, critical care experience, strong communication skills, positive attitude, ability to problem solve.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units.
  • Additional Information:
    • Department: Step Down Unit, with patient ratios of 1:4-5.
    • Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, strokes, nephrology, and diabetes.
    • Nurses are required to titrate drips such as Cardizem, beta blockers, and seizure medications.
    • Each shift has a Charge Nurse who may also take an assignment.
    • Orientation includes one week of onboarding plus 1-2 days on the floor.
    • RTO (Requested Time Off) must be provided upfront within 7 days of a 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
    • The unit is fast paced, emphasizing attributes such as a positive attitude, communication skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
