Job Summary:
A Step Down Unit RN is being sought for a healthcare facility located in Omaha, Nebraska. This position involves providing patient care in an 18-bed adult oncology and trauma progressive care setting. The RN will work 12-hour day shifts, every other weekend, with self-scheduling to meet the units needs. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a diverse patient population and participate in a collaborative team environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts, 0630 a.m. to 0700 p.m., with every other weekend scheduled; self-scheduling is available but must accommodate unit needs.
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license to submit; minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar setting; BLS and ACLS certifications are required; open to first-time travelers; current driving license to verify 50-mile radius eligibility.
- Preferred Qualifications: Oncology certification (preferred, not required); charge nurse experience preferred with at least 1 year of charge nurse experience.
- Experience Requirements: Minimum 2 years of relevant RN experience in acute care or step-down settings.
- Additional Information:
- Candidate must have a current, active RN license and be able to confirm compliance with artificial nail policy.
- The unit involves managing common drips including chemotherapy, Heparin, and Cardizem, with some titratable medications.
- Respiratory equipment encountered may include high-flow oxygen and BiPAP devices.
- EMR system utilized is Epic; IV pumps include Alaris.
- Support staff comprise nursing assistants, charge nurses, PT/OT, social workers, and educators.
- Orientation includes two days of unit-specific training.
- The facility has a cancellation policy that allows up to four shifts to be canceled during a 13-week assignment.
- Charting is done in Epic.
