Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position located in an acute care setting. This role involves caring for patients with conditions such as post-myocardial infarction with sheath pull, atrial heart disease, post-operative vascular procedures, gastrointestinal bleeding, and diabetic ketoacidosis. The nurse will be responsible for managing typical step-down patients, titrating certain drips, and collaborating with a team to provide quality patient care.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour days, weekends as scheduled, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), BLS (Basic Life Support), NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certifications; two years of clinical experience in a similar setting; licensed to practice as an RN
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in step-down or telemetry units; familiarity with monitor reading and titration of drips such as Nitroglycerine, Neo, and Cardene
  • Float: Float rotation may be required
  • Additional Information: The unit features beds with ratios of 1 nurse to 3 patients, utilizing BiPap and Cpap equipment, tele monitoring on all patients, and a dedicated charge nurse/house supervisor. Dress code is royal scrubs with undershirts in white, royal blue, or black. Orientation is specific to the unit.
