Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a qualified Step Down Unit Registered Nurse for a daytime shift in an acute care hospital setting. This role involves providing specialized care to adult patients transitioning from intensive care, with a focus on high-acuity medical management and procedural expertise. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams to deliver safe and effective patient care within a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Shift: Days, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Certified in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); minimum of 2 years of recent step-down or similar acute care experience; valid license applicable for employment in the region; open to candidates within a 75-mile radius; prior experience with titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, art lines, and managing cardiac arrhythmias required
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EPIC charting system; prior community hospital or high-acuity step-down unit experience preferred; familiarity with ventilated patient care including trach vents and external pacemakers is highly desirable
• Float: Float to floors with lower acuity may be required
• Additional Information: Candidates must be proficient with special procedures such as management of vasopressors, sedation, and arterial lines. The role demands hands-on experience with chest tubes, trach vents, and rapid response protocols. The contract includes guaranteed 36 hours weekly, with shifts scheduled every other weekend, and a daily census of approximately 25 adult patients.
