Job Summary:
Cardiac Step Down Unit RN - Days This organization is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the step-down unit at a healthcare facility's midtown location. The RN will provide specialized care for post-procedure cardiac patients, including those with arrythmias, CVA, and sepsis. The position requires a resilient, detail-oriented professional with strong assessment and critical thinking skills to deliver top-quality patient care during a 12-hour shift schedule.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM 7:00 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Must hold a current active compact license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including 1 full year in a step-down unit, with recent experience in trauma level II care, recent EPIC charting experience (will be required to do a checkoff class), and at least one travel assignment.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience interpreting tele/12-lead electrocardiograms (required for travelers), post heart catheterization care, initiation and titration of drips (e.g., Cardizem, Amio, Cardene), sepsis management, neuro assessments, and PIV insertion.
- Float: First to float within the skillset; cross-campus float to other units with a two-hour notice; intra-campus float within the same facility.
- On Call/Call Back: Not required.
- Weekend/Holiday Rotation: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule, and every other holiday.
- Additional Information: The unit has 22 beds with ratios of 1:3-4 during days. The team benefits from strong leadership with over 10 years of tenure, resulting in excellent staff retention. The unit may involve precepting students and new hires. Scrubs are navy blue with no competing hospital or agency logos.
