Job Summary
Registered Nurse, Step Down Unit. This role provides care for adult and geriatric patients in a unit serving a combination of medical-surgical and intermediate-care needs. The assignment accepts first-time travelers and includes telemetry monitoring, cardiac care, and patient assignments ranging from 1:4 to 1:6.
Job Details
- Schedule: Day shifts are 12 hours, with 36- or 48-hour options and a minimum of 48 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- State or compact nursing license in hand at the time of submission
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous charge experience
- Charting system experience
- Additional Information:
- Care is provided for a mixture of medical-surgical and intermediate-care patients.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6, depending on patient assignments.
- Experience with telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, cardiac drips, vascular access, blood product administration, respiratory support, isolation precautions, wound care, and cardiac procedures is applicable.
- The unit supports adult and geriatric patients with an average daily census of 1214.
- Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, pharmacy, and transportation.
- Core onboarding items and laboratory requirements must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Orientation includes 24 hours.
