Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN with telemetry expertise for a stepdown/med-surg unit requiring at least 1 year of experience and TX or compact RN licensure.

Details

• Stepdown unit with a mixture of med/surg and intermediate care patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on assignment
• Day shift schedule, 4x12 hours from 7:00 to 19:30
• 36 or 48 hour weekly options available
• May be required to float to Med/Surg to cover overflow
• Epic charting system preferred

Requirements

• Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of relevant nursing experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and rapid response/code teams
• Experience with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs
• Charge nurse experience preferred

Additional Information

• Provide care for cardiac telemetry and intermediate care patients including monitoring, medication management, and emergency response
• Perform skills such as sheath removal, TR band application, and pre/post cardiac cath and surgery care
• Manage isolation precautions and PPE, wound care, and wound vac as needed
• First-time travelers are accepted for this position
• Travel pairs or groups are not accepted
• Former staff must be separated from the facility for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible
