Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a Level I Trauma academic medical center requiring 2 years of experience and a CT or compact RN license.

Details

  • Step Down unit with primary SDU assignments and occasional ICU coverage
  • Average patient ratio of 1:3 across days, nights, and weekends
  • Day shift schedule working 3x12 hours (7:00-19:00)
  • Every other weekend coverage required
  • Floating required to PCU, other ICUs, and SRC campus as needed
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR

Requirements

  • Active CT or compact RN license required
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; NIHSS preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of recent experience in specialty (1.5 years considered for Level I Trauma or travel experience)
  • Trauma Center experience at a large facility required
  • Skills in IV therapy, arterial line management, and central line care/management
  • Experience with respiratory/thoracic care and ventilated patients
  • Ability to interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and dysrhythmias
  • Experience managing continuous IV sedation and multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE protocols
  • One professional reference required

Additional Information

  • Provide direct patient care in a Level I Trauma Center, academic medical center setting
  • Participate in cardiac monitoring and emergency response as needed
  • Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
  • Flu vaccine required with no declinations accepted
  • COVID vaccine and booster required with religious or medical exemptions only
  • First-time travelers will be considered for this position
  • Local candidates not accepted; must reside more than 75 miles from the hospital
  • Former staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 2 years to be considered as a traveler
  • Up to 7 days of RTO can be auto-approved
