Description

American Traveler is hiring a Step Down RN for a 13-week acute care assignment requiring 2 years of high-acuity/ICU experience and vasopressor titration skills.

Details

  • Step Down unit in an acute care hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 AM-7:30 PM)
  • Patient ratio of 1:4
  • Every other weekend required, both Saturday and Sunday for day shift
  • No on-call requirements
  • Float to lower acuity floors within scope as needed
  • EPIC charting system used

Requirements

  • Active MO or compact RN license required (must match permanent residence if compact)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, with bedside experience within the last 6 months
  • Some ICU or high-acuity stepdown experience required due to unit acuity
  • Trauma Level II experience required
  • Travel experience required within the last 6 months
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
  • Required skills: titration of vasopressors, sedation medication, insulin drips, trach vents, art lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
  • Additional skills: arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, ventilator patient care, chest tube management, and interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper fit testing or must be shaved with no exceptions

Additional Information

  • Care for high-acuity stepdown patients requiring close cardiac and respiratory monitoring
  • Navy scrubs required
  • No first-time travelers accepted for this position
  • Candidates must reside outside a 75-mile radius; no local candidates accepted
  • Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
  • Standard travelers may stay for an 18-month period and must take a 3-month break in service afterward
  • Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week of assignment
  • Contract length is firm and considered non-negotiable
