Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Step Down unit position on night shift, requiring high-acuity ICU or stepdown experience and vasopressor titration skills.

Details

• Step Down unit in an acute care hospital setting
• 1:4 patient ratio
• Night shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:30)
• Every other weekend required, either Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday depending on rotation
• No on-call responsibilities
• Floats to lower acuity floors within scope as needed
• Uses Epic charting system

Requirements

• Active RN license (MO or compact) required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Must have worked at the bedside within the last 6 months
• High acuity stepdown or ICU experience required
• Travel experience within the last 6 months required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Skilled in titration of vasopressors, sedation medications, and insulin drips
• Experience managing trach vents, arterial lines, external pacemakers, and chest tubes
• No exceptions for facial hair that interferes with respirator fit testing

Additional Information

• Care for high-acuity stepdown patients including cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and post-surgical populations
• Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
• Skilled nursing duties include wound care, IV therapy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management
• Navy scrub color required
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this position
• Local candidates within 75 miles are not accepted
• Permanent employees must wait 1 year before returning to any BJC facility as a traveler
• Returning travelers must complete an 18-month period with a required 3-month break in service
• Maximum of 7 days RTO per 13-week contract, with no RTO permitted during the first week
• Contract length is firm at 13 weeks
