Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med Surg/Stepdown RN for a 13-week day shift assignment requiring 2 years of med surg experience and comfort with frequent floating between units.

Details

  • General surgical and orthopedic 29-bed Med Surg unit with medical overflow
  • Frequently floats to Stepdown and MS/Tele units
  • Stepdown patient ratio of 1:4-5, Med Surg ratio of 1:5-6
  • Day shift schedule (3x12 hours, 7:00-19:00)
  • Weekday schedule with every other weekend required
  • Floating required within the hospital in rotation with staff
  • Holiday coverage required as needed
  • EMR: Meditech

Requirements

  • Active SC or compact RN license required
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required
  • 2 years of med surg experience required
  • Stepdown/PCU experience required due to floating
  • Meditech charting experience preferred
  • IV start skills required
  • Community hospital experience preferred

Additional Information

  • Provide nursing care across Med Surg, Stepdown, and MS/Tele units as needed
  • Must be comfortable floating frequently between units with appropriate orientation provided
  • Scrubs not provided; royal blue/white scrub color required
  • Candidates must live more than 50 miles from the facility
  • First-time travelers are accepted
  • Facility will not accept candidates with license or background issues
  • Returning staff must have been gone at least 1 year and in good standing at time of departure
  • Minimal to no RTO approved, especially during the first weeks of assignment
