Job Opportunity – Registered Nurse, Step Down – Amarillo, TX 79106

Start Date: October 12, 2026

Location: Amarillo, Texas

Schedule: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM). Choice of 36 or 48 hours per week. Overtime available after 48 total hours in one week. Contract duration is 13 weeks.

Highlights:

• Mixed intermediate care and medical-surgical unit with 24 beds and daily census of 12-14 patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios range from 1:4 to 1:6 depending on patient acuity and assignment
• First-time travelers welcome; supportive interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Comprehensive orientation provided with 24-36 hours of onsite training
• Flexibility to float to medical-surgical units as needed for overflow coverage
• Patient population includes adults and geriatrics with cardiac, telemetry, and general medical conditions

Requirements:

• Active Registered Nurse license (state or compact) required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of recent step down or intermediate care nursing experience
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS
• Experience with patient ratios of 5-6 patients preferred
• Epic charting system experience preferred
• Proficiency in telemetry monitoring, cardiac drip management, blood product administration, central and peripheral line care, and wound care
• Must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the location
