Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for an Acute Care Hospital setting requiring 2+ years of experience and Texas state licensure.

Details

  • Acute Care Hospital setting
  • Adult patient population
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8-hour shifts from 8:00am to 4:30pm
  • Weekend and on-call rotation required
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist required
  • Current Texas state license required if applicable
  • BLS certification preferred
  • Experience with Acute Care, Adaptive Equipment, Alternative and Augmentative Communication Devices preferred
  • Experience with Dysphagia Management, Bedside Swallow Evaluation, and Modified Barium Swallow Studies
  • Experience conducting and interpreting FEES preferred
  • Experience with Trach/Vent, Laryngectomy, and Passy Muir Valve management preferred
  • Knowledge of Voice/Resonance disorders and Videostroboscopy preferred
  • Ability to recognize signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse preferred

Additional Information

  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment plans, and administer speech therapy treatments
  • Provide accurate, timely, and complete documentation of care
  • Communicate and collaborate with physicians and other healthcare team members
  • Promote teamwork across departments and support hospital policies and protocols
  • Manage a variety of adult conditions including CVA, TBI, dysarthria, dysphagia, and degenerative diseases
  • Provide patient and family education and utilize compensatory strategies
  • Expect to work some holidays
  • RTO must be submitted with candidacy for consideration
  • Onsite drug screening required upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
  • Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted for this position
  • First-time travelers may be considered with required experience
