Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for an acute care hospital position requiring 2+ years of experience and Texas state licensure.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
  • Weekend and on-call rotation required
  • Treats adult patients with CVA, dysphagia, dysarthria, TBI, voice disorders, and other neurological conditions
  • Performs bedside swallow evaluations, Modified Barium Swallow Studies, and FEES
  • Utilizes adaptive and augmentative communication devices, Passy Muir valves, and thickening agents
  • Cerner charting system experience preferred

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctoral degree from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program required
  • Current Texas state license required, if applicable
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist
  • BLS certification preferred
  • Experience with dysphagia management, aural rehabilitation, and voice/resonance disorders preferred
  • Experience interpreting FEES and Modified Barium Swallow Studies preferred
  • Knowledge of trach/vent and laryngectomy care preferred

Additional Information

  • Evaluate patients, develop treatment goals, and administer speech therapy interventions
  • Provide accurate, timely, and complete documentation of treatment
  • Communicate effectively with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
  • Promote teamwork across departments
  • Educate patients and families on treatment plans and compensatory strategies
  • Must live outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
  • Local candidates not accepted
  • RTO must be submitted with application; some holiday coverage expected
  • On-site drug screening required upon arrival, including marijuana testing
  • Pending license accepted at time of consideration but must be active before start date
