Description

American Traveler seeks a Speech-Language Pathologist for an acute care children's hospital position requiring CA SLP license, CCC-SLP, and 2+ years of pediatric and adult dysphagia experience.

Details

  • Acute care hospital setting including SLP Pediatrics unit, PICU, and pediatric rehabilitation
  • Treats both adult and pediatric patient populations
  • Performs Modified Barium Swallow Studies for adult and pediatric patients
  • Manages Total Laryngectomee and Trach/Vent patients, including Speaking Valve use
  • Day shift schedule, 5x8 hours, 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday with one Saturday per month
  • Ability to float to other UCSF facilities within a 75+ mile radius

Requirements

  • Current CA SLP license required, if applicable
  • AHA BLS certification required
  • CCC-SLP certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience required
  • Acute care, children's hospital, pediatric rehab, and PICU experience required
  • Competency in dysphagia management for both pediatric and adult populations required
  • Teaching hospital experience required and must be noted in employment history
  • Epic experience preferred
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology preferred
  • Pediatric outpatient experience preferred
  • Clinical experience in an academic medical center preferred
  • 2 professional references from most recent employer required for consideration

Additional Information

  • Conducts bedside swallow evaluations, Modified Barium Swallow Studies, and Fiberoptic Endoscopic Evaluations of Swallow (FEES)
  • Manages dysphagia diet modifications, thickening agents, and oral motor treatment
  • Provides care for pediatric conditions including developmental delays, language disorders, TBI, and bronchopulmonary dysplasia
  • Provides care for adult conditions including dysphagia, laryngectomy, nervous system disorders, and TBI
  • Utilizes evaluation tools such as CELF, PLS-4, and Rossetti Infant-Toddler Language Scale as applicable
  • Provides patient and family education as part of treatment planning
  • Accepts local candidates at the same pay rate as travelers
  • Any prior employment with University of California medical facilities or affiliated sites must be disclosed for rehire eligibility review
  • All requested time off must be disclosed at time of submission and approved by the manager prior to offer, with no time off permitted during the first two weeks of the assignment
