Description:
The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs.
This role focuses on helping students access the general education curriculum.
The teacher develops academic and life skills and assists students in achieving educational goals in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students’ learning needs and abilities.
Adapt curriculum, teaching methods, and materials to support diverse learners.
Provide small-group and individualized instruction.
Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and life skills.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs.
Write measurable goals and objectives aligned with student needs.
Track and report student progress toward individual goals.
Ensure compliance with educational regulations.
Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student performance.
Use data to guide instruction and adjust interventions.
Participate in reevaluations and eligibility determinations.
Work closely with education professionals and related service providers.
Participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary planning.
Communicate regularly with guardians about student progress and needs.
Implement behavior intervention strategies and plans.
Promote positive behavior and a supportive classroom environment.
Support students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and documentation.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with educational laws.
Follow district policies and procedures.
Work in a classroom-based setting, which may include various classroom environments.
Collaboration across multiple classrooms or grade levels is involved.
