Description:
The Special Education Teacher provides individualized instruction and support to students with disabilities in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs.
The role focuses on helping students access the general education curriculum.
It aids in developing academic and life skills.
The aim is to achieve educational goals in the least restrictive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver specialized instruction tailored to students’ learning needs and abilities.
Adapt curriculum, teaching methods, and materials to support diverse learners.
Provide small-group and individualized instruction.
Support students in developing academic, social, behavioral, and life skills.
Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs.
Write measurable goals and objectives aligned with student needs.
Track and report student progress toward goals.
Ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student performance.
Use data to guide instruction and adjust interventions.
Participate in reevaluations and eligibility determinations.
Work closely with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers.
Participate in team meetings and multidisciplinary planning.
Communicate regularly with parents/guardians about student progress and needs.
Implement behavior intervention strategies and plans.
Promote positive behavior and a supportive classroom environment.
Support students with social-emotional and behavioral challenges.
Maintain accurate records, progress reports, and service documentation.
Ensure confidentiality and compliance with relevant laws.
