American Traveler is hiring a Surgical ICU RN with a compact or LA RN license, 2+ years of SICU experience, and prior travel nursing experience required for a night shift assignment.

Details

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours, 18:45-7:15
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Every other weekend required
  • Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • No call-in requirement
  • Orientation held 5 days a week

Requirements

  • Active RN license (Compact or LA) in hand upon submission
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA certifications required)
  • Minimum 2 years of Surgical ICU experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required (no first-time travelers)
  • Experience with cardiac monitoring and Central Venous Pressure (CVP) monitoring required
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) required
  • Experience with IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management required
  • Experience with drip titration required
  • Experience with chest tube insertion/removal and care of ventilated patients required
  • Post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention experience required
  • Up-to-date NURSYS report (within 4 weeks) required for consideration
  • Two Manager/Supervisor references (Charge RNs not accepted) required prior to start, in PDF format

Additional Information

  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical ICU patients including post-cardiac surgery and cardiac catheterization cases
  • Preferred experience includes liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery, LVAD/RVAD, and high acuity ICU care
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, with expectation to remain onsite until relieved
  • Must be willing to work 2 of 4 designated holiday periods annually: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be listed on profile and discussed during interview to avoid offer rescission
  • Candidates who previously worked as permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have been separated from the health system for at least one full year before returning as a travel nurse
