Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2+ years of SICU experience and an active LA or compact RN license.

Details

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit setting within a hospital
  • Night shift, 3x12 hours (18:45-07:15)
  • Patient ratio of 1:2
  • Care for post cardiac surgery and pre/post cardiac cath intervention patients
  • Provides cardiac monitoring, central venous pressure monitoring, and continuous renal replacement therapy
  • Performs IV therapy including blood product administration, central line management, and PICC line management
  • Manages drip titration and chest tube insertion/removal
  • Cares for ventilated patients
  • Every other weekend required
  • Potential floating to other ICUs and step-down units
  • No call-in requirement
  • Epic EMR experience required

Requirements

  • Active RN license (LA or compact) required in hand upon consideration
  • Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (AHA-issued)
  • Minimum 2 years of Surgical ICU experience required
  • Experience with hemodynamic monitoring including CVP and CRRT required
  • Experience in cardiac monitoring, post cardiac surgery care, and IV therapy required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • Updated NURSYS report required for consideration
  • Two manager or supervisor references required prior to start (charge RN references not accepted)

Additional Information

  • Liver, kidney, pancreas, heart, or lung transplant recovery experience is a plus but not required
  • High acuity ICU, LVAD/RVAD, and transplant recovery experience preferred
  • May be assigned to an Emergency Team during facility emergency events, requiring on-site presence until relief arrives
  • Holiday coverage required for 2 of 4 designated holiday periods: Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
  • Orientation held 5 days a week
  • First-time travelers will not be considered for this position
  • Candidates must live more than 65 miles from the facility to be eligible
  • Previous permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must be separated from the health system for one full year before returning as a traveler
  • RTO must be documented on the candidate profile and discussed during the interview
