Description

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Surgical ICU position requiring transplant and post cardiac surgery experience along with a Compact or LA RN license.

Details

  • High acuity Surgical ICU with a 1:2 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 18:45 to 07:15
  • Float requirement to other ICUs and step-down units
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Care for post-op surgical recovery patients including transplant recovery for liver, heart, lung, kidney, and pancreas
  • Experience with Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) preferred
  • PA catheter and balloon pump (IABP) experience preferred
  • No on-call requirement
  • No block scheduling requests accommodated

Requirements

  • Active Compact or LA RN license required in hand at time of submission
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications (AHA required)
  • Minimum 2 years of specialty ICU experience required
  • Required transplant experience: liver, heart, lung, kidney, or pancreas
  • Post Cardiac Surgery experience directly from the OR required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required
  • NURSYS report required, dated within 4 weeks of submission

Additional Information

  • 13-week assignment with orientation held 5 days per week
  • Candidates may be assigned to an Emergency Team requiring extended on-site presence during facility emergency events
  • Must reside more than 65 miles from the facility, as local candidates are not accepted
  • Requested time off (RTO) must be listed on the profile and discussed during the interview to avoid offer rescindment
  • Two Manager or Supervisor references (not Charge RNs) required prior to start, though not required for submission
  • Previous Ochsner Health permanent staff or in-house agency contractors must have a full year separation before returning as a traveler
