Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring VA or compact licensure and 2 years of SICU experience with strong cardiovascular background.

Details

• Level II Trauma Center short-term acute care hospital setting
• SICU unit caring for trauma, cardiovascular surgery (TAVR, CABG), neurosurgery, and complex surgical patients
• Patient ratios of 1:2-3, adjusted for float assignments based on skill level and acuity
• Night shift, 3x12 hours, 19:00-07:00
• Every other weekend required
• No on-call requirement
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, including to non-ICU units at standard ratios
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active RN license (VA or Compact) required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (CSC and TNCC preferred)
• Minimum 2 years of SICU experience required, with strong cardiovascular experience preferred
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Community hospital experience required
• Trauma Level II experience required
• Skilled in dysrhythmia interpretation and management, arterial line management, and blood product administration
• Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and care of ventilated patients
• Experience with CRRT/CVVHD and renal failure management
• Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and procedural sedation monitoring
• Experience managing multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Current Nursys report required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for a specialized surgical ICU population including open heart recovery, TAVR recovery, trauma, and post-code blue patients
• Navy blue scrub color required
• Up to 8 hours of pre-start training modules required within 1 week of signing, completed through WorkRamp
• All required certifications must be obtained prior to start
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Locals accepted at the same rate with no radius restriction
• RTO granted at manager's discretion; requests exceeding 7 days require an equivalent extension of the assignment
• Travel pairs may be considered, though matching schedules cannot be guaranteed
• Previous employees must have a 1-year separation from the facility before returning
