Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU (SICU) travel assignment at an academic oncology hospital in Ohio, requiring a minimum of 2 years of current ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

  • Surgical ICU (SICU) setting within a large academic oncology hospital
  • Adult patient population with complex diagnoses including hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, sepsis, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
  • Specialized procedures include external ventricular drain (EVD) management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocol (MTP), mechanical ventilation, heated high flow (HFNC), BiPAP, CPAP, tracheostomy management, CRRT, and vasopressor titration
  • Night shift (3x12), 19:00–07:30; rotating day/night scheduling is possible depending on unit needs
  • Shift assignments are reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing priorities
  • Epic EMR — experience required
  • 13-week contract

Requirements

  • Active OH RN license or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required — experience must be current and active within the last 12 months
  • Prior travel nursing experience required — first-time travelers will not be considered
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Nursing degree from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
  • 2 professional references required: at least 1 must be from a manager, director, or formal leadership role (supervisor); a Charge RN is acceptable as the second reference; co-worker references are not accepted
  • Ohio fingerprinting is required — candidates must complete this process promptly after accepting the assignment

Additional Information

  • Candidate responsibilities include management of critically ill adult patients with multisystem organ dysfunction, neurological emergencies, and post-surgical oncology care
  • Key clinical skills include central line and arterial line management, PICC and port access, blood product administration, ventilator and CRRT management, vasopressor and sedation titration, ABG interpretation, stroke management, and IV insulin protocols
  • Local candidates are accepted at the same rate as traveling candidates
  • Former employees of the facility are eligible after a minimum 6-month separation; current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are not eligible
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted prior to or at the time of consideration and will be built into the contract; RTO is limited to 7 days or fewer
  • Multiple parking permit options are available for purchase through CampusParc, ranging from 24/7 garage access to budget surface lot options with shuttle service to the medical center
