Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical/Intermediate Care Unit position on nights, requiring 2+ years of tele/SCU experience and a ME or compact RN license.

Details

  • Community hospital SCU/IMC unit treating telemetry, med-surg, and critical care patients (non-vented)
  • 8-bed unit with patient ratios ranging from 1:1 to 4:1
  • Night shift schedule, 6p-6a (36 hours/week)
  • Every other weekend minimum required
  • No call requirements for core hours
  • Occasional floating to Med-Surg, with a 25-mile float policy between facilities as needed
  • Uses ventilators, ceiling lifts, Plumb pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and SCD boots
  • Epic EMR used

Requirements

  • Active RN license (ME or Compact) required at time of consideration
  • BLS certification required (AHA certification must be completed prior to start if submitted with non-AHA equivalent)
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, tele or med-surg/tele background preferred
  • Experience with vasoactive drips and ventilators required
  • ICU/SCU experience preferred
  • Driver's license required for consideration
  • Two professional references required

Additional Information

  • Care for a mixed patient population including SCU, IMC, Med-Surg, and occasional Swing patients
  • Team environment values a down-to-earth, proactive, team-oriented approach with high standards of care
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • Air pods, laptops, and cell phone use are prohibited on the unit
  • Local candidates within 90 miles of any MaineHealth facility are considered local and are not eligible for renewals or extensions
  • RTO should be minimized, with 3-4 days considered reasonable for a 13-week contract at manager's discretion
  • Candidates who have worked at any MaineHealth facility within the past 12 months must disclose this at time of consideration
