Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a Pediatric ICU night shift position requiring 2+ years experience and RRT certification with Ohio licensure.

Details

  • Pediatric Critical Care setting at a children's hospital
  • Unit is RRT PICU with floating required to CTICU, NICU, H8A (pulmonary), and Core (general/ED)
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00 to 7:30
  • Epic charting system used
  • 13-week assignment length

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years overall experience required, including at least 1 year full-time experience in a large hospital PICU
  • Level 1 pediatric trauma center experience strongly preferred
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred
  • Required certifications: BLS, PALS, RRT
  • Ohio state license required in hand for RRTs (License required if applicable)
  • Epic charting system experience required
  • 2 supervisory references required at time of consideration, and at least one must be manager/supervisor titled (charge nurse references do not qualify)
  • Skilled in ventilator management including BiPAP, CPAP, and high frequency oscillator
  • Skilled in airway management including intubation/extubation assist, suctioning, and tracheostomy care
  • Experience with medication delivery systems including nebulizers, MDIs, and aerosol setups
  • Experience with medication administration including Albuterol, Atrovent, Flovent, Nitric Oxide, Pulmicort, Racemic epinephrine, and Tobramycin
  • Skilled in interpretation of arterial blood gases (ABGs)
  • Experience with neonatal/pediatric equipment including oscillating and pressure/volume ventilators

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory therapy care to critically ill pediatric patients in the PICU
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, pulmonary hygiene, and sputum specimen collection
  • Weaning patients from mechanical ventilation and troubleshooting high pressure alarms
  • Floating to different units required based on assignment needs
  • Previous travel experience not required, first-time travelers may be considered
  • Candidates who worked as permanent staff at this facility within the last 2 years are not eligible
  • 60-mile radius rule applies; local candidates within this radius are not eligible
