Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist for a NICU/pediatric ICU-level position requiring 2+ years of experience and an active RRT license, with first-time travelers welcome.

Details

  • NICU and pediatric ICU-level respiratory care setting
  • 13-week contract assignment
  • Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Mandatory floating, including as a Patient Observer/Sitter, to other units as needed
  • Cerner charting system preferred but not required for consideration
  • On-call availability required
  • Neonatal/pediatric equipment use may include CPAP/BiPAP, oscillating ventilator, ECMO, and umbilical blood gas draws

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience required
  • Active MO or Compact RRT license in hand at time of consideration (pending license not accepted) - license required if applicable
  • CRT certification not accepted
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required
  • Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs
  • Ability to ambulate and reach throughout shift
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 healthcare environment

Additional Information

  • Provide respiratory care to critically ill neonatal and pediatric patients
  • Perform ventilator management, airway management, and suctioning procedures
  • Interpret arterial blood gases and troubleshoot ventilator alarms
  • Assist with high-risk deliveries and bronchoscopy procedures as needed
  • Work in a facility open 24/7, 365 days a year, including holidays and during inclement weather
  • Required to work at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
  • Rotating shift coverage may be required
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Maximum of 10 days RTO permitted, with none allowed during the first week due to orientation
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible to apply
  • Candidates residing 51-74 miles away may be offered a reduced local rate
