Description

American Traveler is seeking a Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - ECMO Specialist with 2+ years RRT experience and 1+ year of ECMO Specialist experience for a night shift position in adult critical care.

Details

  • Adult critical care unit at a Magnet-designated, teaching hospital with Level III trauma status
  • Patient ratio of 1:6
  • Uses Epic/Excellian charting system
  • Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 18:30-07:00) with occasional day shift coverage as needed
  • Works every other weekend
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate hospitals as needed
  • No on-call requirement

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years RRT experience and 1 year ECMO Specialist experience required
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, and RRT certifications required
  • State license required if applicable
  • Adult critical care work setting experience required
  • Experience with airway management including intubation assist, extubation, tracheostomy care, and suctioning
  • Experience caring for patients with ARDS, aspiration, COVID, ECMO, fresh tracheostomy, pneumonia, and bronchoscopy
  • Medication administration experience including Albuterol, Atrovent, Mucomyst, Nitric Oxide, and others
  • Ventilator management skills including BiPAP, CPAP, SIMV, and weaning from mechanical ventilation
  • Arterial puncture and ABG drawing/interpretation experience required
  • Epic/Excellian charting experience required
  • Must live more than 100 miles from the facility to be considered
  • Pending license accepted but must be active by start date
  • 1 supervisor reference required for consideration

Additional Information

  • ECMO Specialist providing protocol-driven ECMO oxygen therapy and critical care respiratory support
  • Perform chest physiotherapy, nebulizer treatments, and pulmonary hygiene procedures
  • Assist with patient transport, including inter-departmental and ambulance transport
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have at least 1 year of ECMO Specialist experience
  • Scrub color is Ceil Blue (provided) or Olive Green (traveler's own)
  • Returning staff must have been gone at least 3 months since last worked as perm staff or per diem
  • RTO ideally no more than 5 days
  • Local candidates not accepted due to 100-mile radius requirement
